Temperature: Keep the water temperature in the range of 75-82°F (24-28°C) as they are tropical fish.
pH Level: Favorable pH level is between 6.5 and 7.5. .
Water Hardness: Try to maintain water hardness (GH) of 5-12 dGH and a carbonate hardness (KH) of 3-8 dKH.
Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate:
- Keep ammonia and nitrite levels at zero.
- Nitrate levels should be kept below 20-40 ppm through regular water changes and proper filtration.
Oxygenation: Ensure the sufficient oxygen flow into the tank specially if the tank is crowded.
Filtration: Reliable filtration system is needed. If it’s possible for you, you can install mechanical filtration system along with the biological filter system.
Regular Water Changes: water change once in 1-2 weeks is sufficient. Replace this amount of water with new clean water.
Butterfly fish feeding :
You can feed them high quality pellets or flakes. fine chopped Frozen pea may be given to them. One thing to remember, their mouth hole is very small. So, feed them which they can grasp easily. So, this is what you can feed Butterfly fishes.
Butterfly fish tank size :
For 5-6 Butterfly fishes, tank with the capacity of 30 gallon to 40 gallon is sufficient. But keep in mind, that they can grow 6 inches too. So, giving them more space to swim is recommended. This is the good and ideal size for Butterfly fish aquarium.
