Angel fish are mainly native to amazon basin, South America. So here we will discuss few parameters which will give you an idea about how to keep the Angel fish and how to take care of this Angel fish.
Size: On an average, height is 5-8 inches and the length is 8-11 inches including fins.
Shape: Triangular shaped body with elongated tail fins. Their bodies are laterally compressed which is a dominant sign to identify them.
Coloration: Silver, marble , black , gold etc. But colors depends upon the their breeding process as a selective breeding can produce many hybrid color combination.
How to care Angel Fish:
Maintaining proper water conditions is crucial for the health and well-being of angelfish. Here are the recommended water parameters for keeping Angelfish:
Temperature: Keep the water temperature in the range of 75-82°F (24-28°C) as they are tropical fish.
pH Level: Favorable pH level is between 6.5 and 7.5. .
Water Hardness: Try to maintain water hardness (GH) of 5-12 dGH and a carbonate hardness (KH) of 3-8 dKH.
Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate:
- Keep ammonia and nitrite levels at zero.
- Nitrate levels should be kept below 20-40 ppm through regular water changes and proper filtration.
Oxygenation: Ensure the sufficient oxygen flow into the tank specially if the tank is crowded.
Filtration: Reliable filtration system is needed. If it’s possible for you, you can install mechanical filtration system along with the biological filter system.
Regular Water Changes: water change once in 1-2 weeks is sufficient. Replace this amount of water with new clean water.
Angelfish Feeding:
You can feed them high quality pellets or flakes. fine chopped Frozen pea may be given to them. One thing to remember, their mouth hole is very small. So, feed them which they can grasp easily. So, this is what you can feed Angel fishes.
Angel fish tank size:
For 5-6 Angel fishes, tank with the capacity of 30 gallon to 40 gallon is sufficient. But keep in mind, that they can grow 6 inches too. So, giving them more space to swim is recommended. This is the good and ideal size for Angelfish aquarium.
